State Sen. Kevin Daley (R-Lum) served as a host to Miss Michigan at the state Capitol in Lansing.
Daley welcomed Mallory Rivard, who won the title last June, to the Capitol as a way to honor her accomplishment.
As part of winning the 2019 Miss Michigan pageant, Rivard, a first-grade teacher at MacGregor Elementary in Bay City, received a $12,000 scholarship and a spot to compete in the Miss America Scholarship Program pageant. She was Miss Great Lakes Bay.
She attended Bay City Western High School and Saginaw Valley State University. She will compete for the Miss America title next year.
