Brown City Community Schools issued the following announcement on Nov 5.

Representatives of the 2021 Pink Out for Cancer Clash committee recently presented a check for $27,475 to the Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) Breast Cancer Understanding, Prevention and Screenings (B.C.U.P.S) program following a successful rivalry football game fundraiser between Marlette and Brown City schools that took place this fall.

Proceeds from the event supported MRH’s B.C.U.P.S. program, which has provided free mammogram screenings to hundreds of Thumb Area residents, primarily for those that are uninsured or underinsured, and provides financial assistance for testing services like diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies. The program also provides grant funding to Thumb Area patients that have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

MRH Foundation Manager Christina Medici commented, “We’d like to extend a big thank you to committee members, sponsors, volunteers, school representatives, and to all that assisted in making the event a success. We’re so thankful to have two communities come together to raise money for the B.C.U.P.S. program at Marlette Regional Hospital.”

Marlette Regional Hospital’s Foundation & Marketing Manager Christina Medici accepted the check on behalf of the hospital. Committee members pictured (left to right) Neil Kohler, Kasey Trudeau, Kendra Jickling, Sue Burton, Steve Kohler, Christina Medici, Kelsey Jickling.
