We have a great resource for parents called Pathways to Potential Success Coach located at the Elementary. Her name is Jill Volmering 989-269-2736.
Pathways to Potential Success Coaches work with families to identify and overcome barriers to school attendance and self-sufficiency such as housing, food, clothing, child daycare, cash benefits, medical care and utility emergencies (it is really a broad definition of what I can do—sometimes a listening ear is all that is needed). We want to ensure that basic needs are met at home so that these obstacles do not affect the student’s ability to go to school, focus, and learn. Michigan Department Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has many services that can help in these areas. When they are not available through the department, we will work together to get families connected to other community resources. The program goes where the client is located; it works one-on-one with families to identify and remove barriers and connect them to a network of services; and it engages community members and school personnel to help families find their road to success.
Pathways to Potential started at Bad Axe Public Schools in March 2018. It is a program provided by the Department of Health and Human Services.
