State Rep. Phil Green | Michigan House Republicans
State Rep. Phil Green recently spoke about the importance of greater access to mental health care and substance abuse treatment for Michigan residents. The Republican vice chair on the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee in the Michigan House, Green, joined the Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church for their Advocacy Day to advocate for awareness and solutions for care.
During the event, Green quoted Mahatma Gandhi, saying, “the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.” He emphasized the significance of providing comprehensive care that is integrated with an individual's overall healthcare, particularly in the realm of mental health.
Green specifically highlighted the issue of substance abuse, noting its impact on families and the perpetuation of generational struggles. He expressed his unwavering support for legislation that ensures unhindered access to substance abuse care for all individuals, regardless of factors such as age, socioeconomic status, or place of residence. Green stated, “I will continue to fight for the needs of people we all represent in the Legislature.”
Representing the 67th House District, which includes parts of Genesee, Lapeer, and Tuscola counties, Green is currently serving his third term in office.
