State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Richmond) has issued a statement following the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. In her remarks, Greene described the incident as an act of political terrorism and emphasized the broader implications for free speech and public safety.

Greene expressed her grief through an original poem that highlights the emotional impact of the attack on Kirk's family and community:

“I’m not OK.

I’m not OK with the gleeful cheers echoing over a sniper’s bullet that stole a husband, a father of two young children, from his family… in broad daylight, before a crowd of wide-eyed students chasing truth.

I’m not OK that a devoted wife now whispers goodnights alone, her babies’ laughter forever shadowed by absence, their future fractured by hate’s cruel aim.

I’m not OK with the rot of indifference, the poison of division that binds these tragedies in blood.

I’m not OK with political violence. I’m not OK with political terrorism.

And neither should you be, for it has no place in this country, where humanity must rise above the blade and the barrel, or we all fall together.”

In addition to mourning Kirk’s death, Greene argued that his killing represents an attack on core American principles. “Charlie Kirk was targeted because he spoke truth. Because he stood for freedom. Because he inspired a new generation to think for themselves,” Greene said. “That is why the enemies of liberty wanted him dead. But make no mistake: we will not be intimidated, and we will not surrender America to political terrorists.”

Greene urged Americans to oppose political violence and prevent its normalization in society. “Today it is Charlie Kirk. Tomorrow it could be any one of us who dares to speak boldly,” Greene said. “This assassination must be a line in the sand. Enough is enough. America must rise above hate before it consumes us all.”
