State Representative Jaime Greene presented a special tribute in Richmond, Michigan, marking the 100th anniversary of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department’s 1925 American LaFrance Pumper fire engine.
The pumper, introduced in 1925 and regarded as advanced technology at the time, served the community for fifty years. Its preservation is seen as a symbol of the dedication shown by generations of Richmond firefighters.
“This historic fire engine is more than just a piece of equipment, it represents the generations of brave men and women who have answered the call to protect lives and property in our community,” said Greene. “As we celebrate this centennial milestone, we honor not only the legacy of the 1925 American LaFrance pumper but also the proud tradition of service that defines the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department.”
The tribute emphasized both the department’s long-standing commitment to protecting Richmond and its neighboring areas, and how maintaining historical equipment like the 1925 pumper can inspire future first responders.
“Richmond’s volunteer firefighters have built a foundation of integrity, service, and sacrifice that continues to make our community stronger,” Greene added. “Their legacy is one of courage and compassion, a legacy that deserves to be celebrated and remembered.”
