McLaren Thumb Region Hospital - McLaren Health Care issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
McLaren Port Huron was awarded an “A” in the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction that recognizes McLaren Port Huron’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safe, compassionate health care. The grade is based on the hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harm to patients in their care, as well as patient experience.
“This Leapfrog safety grade is a testament to the care and commitment of those who work at McLaren Port Huron,” said Eric Cecava, president and CEO at McLaren Port Huron. “Given the extraordinary challenges of COVID-19, this grade is even more impressive. Our team never loses sight of the critical need to provide high quality care in a compassionate and safe environment.”
“We are extremely grateful to hospital leadership and health care workers who have remained steadfast in prioritizing patient safety as our nation battles COVID-19,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 hospitals in the U.S., twice a year. The methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
