State Representative Joseph Pavlov has proposed a $5.25 million funding increase for the Michigan Association of Recovery Community Organizations (MARCO), aiming to bolster services for people affected by substance use disorders across the state.
Pavlov, a Republican from Smiths Creek, submitted his proposal to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity on July 29. As part of this effort, he invited MARCO representatives to testify about their work connecting individuals with peer-led recovery support, education, and community-based programs.
“MARCO’s work is changing lives by providing support, advocacy, and resources for people on the road to recovery,” Pavlov said. “Investing in these services means investing in healthier communities, stronger families, and brighter futures. I want to make sure these programs have the funding they need to continue their mission.”
If approved, the funding would enable MARCO to extend its reach into more Michigan communities, build stronger partnerships with local organizations focused on recovery, and offer additional resources for individuals and families seeking help.
Pavlov stated that he will continue advocating for this investment as budget negotiations proceed in Lansing. The state legislature is expected to finalize Michigan’s budget later this fall.
