State Representative Joseph Pavlov is seeking state funds to address shoreline erosion and flooding at the Marysville City Water Filtration Plant. On July 31, Pavlov, a Republican from Smiths Creek, submitted a funding request to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity. He was joined by local officials from Marysville in asking for $750,000 to construct a new seawall for the facility.

Pavlov highlighted the importance of protecting the plant’s infrastructure. “The water filtration plant serves thousands of residents and businesses in our area, and without a stable seawall, the facility is vulnerable to erosion, flooding, and costly damage,” Pavlov said. “Protecting this plant protects our drinking water, our economy, and our public health.”

The planned upgrade aims to provide long-term stability for the water plant. This project is considered important for maintaining safe and reliable water access for people living and working in Marysville.

Pavlov stated he will continue advocating for these safety improvements as part of the ongoing state budget process. Final decisions on funding are expected in the coming months.
