Enrollment at Peck Community School District increased by 2.5% compared to previous school year

There were 375 students enrolled in Peck Community School District in the 2022-23 school year, 2.5% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.4% of them were girls, and 49.6% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 92.8% of the Peck Community School District total enrollment.

Peck Community School District covers two schools within Sanilac County with its main office in Peck. Among them, Peck Junior-Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 197 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
