Enrollment at Yale Public Schools decreased by 3.6% compared to previous school year

There were 1,758 students enrolled in Yale Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.6% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 93.2% of the Yale Public Schools total enrollment.

Yale Public Schools covers six schools within St. Clair County with its main office in Yale. Among them, Yale Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 551 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
