Davison City Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept 9.
The Davison City Police Department is seeking candidates interested in becoming a paid crossing guard. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assembling children and other pedestrians behind curb lines, awaiting traffic and/or signal changes; stopping traffic and escorting pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely; instructing children in proper procedures for safe street crossing.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must being able to stand for a period of time, up to approximately 45 minutes. Must have the mobility to escort pedestrians across streets. Be able to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic. Will be required and able to read printed materials and license plates. Assist law enforcement in the proper identification of violators. Adult crossing guards should be familiar with local traffic regulations. They should understand how traffic control devices work and why and how they are used, along with pedestrian crossing devices/lights.
This position is approximately 10 hours per week. The times are as follows when school is in session: 7:00 am - 7:40 am / 2:15 pm – 2:40 pm (two separate intersections and crossings for this specific time frame) and 3:15 pm - 3:40 pm. PLEASE BE ADVISED: If you’re interested in this position, you can choose one or all of the above listed times, as these crossing times are paid separately (per crossing).
