Did you know the City of Lapeer has a Housing Resource Call Center?

1

City of Lapeer issued the following announcement on Nov 22.

Did you know the City of Lapeer has a Housing Resource Call Center?

The Human Development Commission’s (HDC) new Housing Resource Call Center is the first point of contact for the Thumb Area (Lapeer, Huron, Sanilac & Tuscola Counties) for housing issues. HDC is now contracted by MSHDA as the Housing Assessment & Resource Agency (HARA) to administer the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) for emergency housing funds for this area.

They will also be the agency that will verify homelessness prior to putting people on the MSHDA waitlist for rental subsidy/Housing Choice Voucher program. Blue Water Center for Independent Living has dissolved and is no longer in business.

The Call Center hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with messages taken on weekends.  Follow ups will be done on Monday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. for any messages left over the weekend. During the work week, follow up will be done with each caller within 24 hours of the initial contact.

To clarify: the Lapeer Housing Commission program for rental subsidy is not the same at MSHDA’s program for rental subsidy.  The Federal regulations are very similar, but the two entities are separate agencies with different waiting list criteria.

You can call the resource center at (833) 611-0804
