LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Senate on Tuesday adopted Sen. Kevin Daley’s resolution to recognize April 2024 as National Donate Life Month.
"Organ, tissue, and eye donation can provide families that are tragically confronted by the death of a loved one with the comfort of knowing the gift of donated organs and tissues provides another person with renewed hope for a healthy life," said Daley, R-Lum.
Sen. Daley also shared a personal connection to the cause, stating, "Organ donation is especially important to me. My son Thomas passed away over 13 years ago. Thomas was not a registered donor, but he would have wanted to help others. Today, Thomas’s heart, and his legacy, live on in the lives of others."
Senate Resolution 108 encourages all residents to join the Michigan Organ Donor Registry and to share that decision with their families, friends, and colleagues, and encourage them to do the same.
"Joining the Michigan Organ Donor Registry means that upon your death, you agree to become an organ, eye and tissue donor to save up to eight lives, and potentially heal up to 125 others," as highlighted by Gift of Life Michigan.
