A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Tuscola County Election Division in Michigan on February 5, 2025. The request, sent by Thumb Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought detailed information about all candidates running for the upcoming election.
The requested details included the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, the office they are running for, and their party affiliation. The jurisdiction of the office each candidate is vying for was also asked for.
In addition to these details about the candidates' political aspirations, contact information was also requested. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

We have thus requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.
