FOIA Request to Sanilac County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Thumb Reporter have submitted a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. The request was made to the Sanilac County Election Division for detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specific details requested include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We also asked for information about each candidate's party affiliation.
In addition to these basic details, we requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
