Several experts in digital assets and blockchain management are set to visit Lansing to testify before the House Committee on Communication and Technology. This session, scheduled for Tuesday, coincides with the Michigan House's consideration of a resolution for Digital Asset Awareness Day, introduced by State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Richmond).

Rep. Greene emphasized the importance of engaging with experts on critical policy issues such as digital assets. She stated, "As legislators, we should be seeking every possible opportunity to hear from experts on the policy issues we’re working on, especially when it comes to an issue as important as digital assets." Greene noted the significant growth in the digital asset and blockchain industry, describing it as an "incredibly critical topic."

The committee will hear testimonies from Tyler Lindholm, former Chair of the Wyoming Blockchain Task Force; Lee Bratcher from the Texas Blockchain Council; Dr. Edward Longe, Chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Communications and Technology Task Force; and Jake Morabido, Director of the same task force.

The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th in Room 327 of the Anderson House Office Building. Alongside presiding over this meeting, Greene will address her resolution declaring May 13th as Digital Asset Awareness Day in Michigan.

Greene highlighted both opportunities and challenges presented by digital technology advancements. She remarked, "The rapid evolvement of digital technology offers so many exciting opportunities but also needs guardrails." Her goal is for colleagues to gain greater understanding and insight into blockchains and cryptocurrencies through expert testimony.
