On Thursday, State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Richmond) introduced a resolution to honor the men and women who served in the armed forces by commemorating Purple Heart Day in Michigan. House Resolution 147, presented by Greene, acknowledges the heroism and service of military personnel and designates August 7th, 2025, as Purple Heart Day.

“The Purple Heart is our nation’s oldest military decoration, and there are few recognitions that serve as a better testament to the selflessness and courage of the recipient,” Greene stated. “We owe our everlasting gratitude to those who served, and that’s all the more true for those who were wounded in the line of duty. Assigning a day to recognize all those in Michigan who received the Purple Heart is a small way to show that gratitude.”

Greene is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a cryptologist after enlisting out of high school. Her experience led her to work as a Veterans Counselor, assisting veterans with their transition to civilian life.

Since her election to the Legislature, Greene has focused on creating a supportive environment for veterans in Michigan. She leads the Michigan House's veterans caucus and has previously introduced bills aiming to designate Michigan as a Purple Heart State and establish an apprenticeship program for National Guard members. Her latest legislation continues her efforts to honor Michigan's veterans' service and sacrifice.
